The hunt for legendary loot in Borderlands 4 is relentless on Kairos! This guide explains why throwing knives are so sought-after in the game, along with tips on the quickest ways to obtain these orange-rarity weapons.
In Borderlands 4, there are legendary weapons tied to specific bosses, while others are obtainable through exploration of the world. Among these is a collection of throwing knives, especially those equipped with modifiers that amplify critical damage for phenomenal output.
How to Obtain the Throwing Knife?
Unfortunately, there’s no fixed method currently known for acquiring a legendary throwing knife. As per usual, you’ll need to progress sufficiently in the campaign to unlock the maximum number of bosses and Encore machines for efficient farming. Some bosses offer better chances of dropping these knives, while others are easy to restart quickly, like Splashzone, the first boss encountered on Kairos. Whenever an Encore machine is available for a boss, activating it to replay the fight can increase your chances of obtaining a Throwing Knife. Additionally, higher difficulty levels increase the number of rare loot drops, thereby improving your odds of finding a Throwing Knife, possibly with the desired modifier if you’re fortunate.
Why is the Throwing Knife So Highly Sought After?
The Throwing Knife is a thrown weapon (similar to a grenade) in Borderlands 4, launched at enemies. What makes it particularly appealing is the Penetrator modifier, which converts damage done to the target into guaranteed critical hits for a few seconds. Other variants exist (with names like Vivisecting, etc.), some with or without the Penetrator augment. Notably, you can combine registered modifiers with your weapons at Zane’s endgame workshop.
