Styx, the Great Eggscape: A How-To Guide for the Delivery-Challenged
In the whimsical world of Hollow Knight: Silksong, embarking on the quest “Queen Eggs” is akin to playing a game of hot potato—but with slightly more deadly consequences. It’s a delivery mission full of hidden biomes, booby traps, and enemies that would make even the bravest warrior reconsider their life choices. But fear not; Styx is waiting to whisk these precious eggs away… once they are successfully delivered, of course!
First Stop: Unlocking the Quest with Styx
Ah, the allure of adventure! Before fans can get their grubby little hands on those royal eggs, there’s a series of wishes that must be ticked off the list. It all starts with Clochelle (or Bellhart, if one prefers the English version), who has her own set of ‘to-dos’ for aspiring adventurers. After besting the Widow, Hornet can strut over to the wish board and pick up “The Missing Courier.” This sets the stage for the delightful tales of Tipp, an NPC who — spoiler alert — becomes pretty crucial. Who knew a courier drama could be so riveting?
Once “The Missing Courier” is wrapped up like an obligatory post-quest snack, it’s back to Clochelle! Here, an elusive new wish dubbed “My Missing Brother” pops up—but good luck figuring out how to trigger it. Seriously, was there an ancient riddle involved? For some, it required the mystical encounter with Styx, a little repair job on Clochelle’s figurative heart, and then some waiting around like a cat expecting a treat.
This wish sends Hornet off to the foreboding Sombrevale, ultimately leading to the notorious Fishing Path, which is basically a nice way of saying “danger ahead.” To rescue Pill, follow the breadcrumb trail—of abandoned goods, no less. After saving him, Pill teams up with Tipp, thus kicking off a beautiful sibling courier relationship—and the infamous egg delivery duties.
Egg-tastic Delivery to Styx
With the egg in tow, it’s time to amble over to Styx, who has made his abode in the chaotic Chasms of Fishermen’s Lane. Now, here’s the kicker: this egg is practically a VIP! It boasts four health points and can be delivered under leisurely conditions (no time-limit stress or racing against angry crowds). But, alas, there’s a rule: the Bell Beast is out of bounds for this journey, which means creative traversal is a must!
The expedition breaks down into two key phases:
- From Clochelle to Fishermen’s Path: Set off east towards Sombrevale. Be sure to catch a lift from the gusts of air that will hoist one to the upper echelons. Next, an elevator ride brings adventurers above Midway—just in case anyone wanted a lovely vantage point. From here, carefully hop onto platforms and balloons to track down the hidden pathway leading to Fishing Lane. Beware: in Act 3, platforms mysteriously vanish, so creativity will be required to avoid an unfortunate plummet.
- Navigating Fishermen’s Path: Make a rightward dash toward the central area. Now, it’s time to climb over prisons and cages—yes, armed escapism! Scale these obstacles to locate an upper passage where the rightful delivery zone resides. Remember: dignity is a choice, even amidst deliveries.
The true challenge, however, lurks if this adventure is attempted during Act 3. Without getting too into spoilers, let’s just say the enemy roster gets a serious upgrade. Suddenly, what seemed like a breezy delivery quest starts resembling a trial by fire, and nobody signed up for that!
Completing the “Queen Eggs” quest rewards a unsuspectingly wonderful 260 pearls, a solid haul for what turns out to be an eggcellent delivery service. Plus, Styx continues to deliver Sly Silk Eaters like it’s going out of style, which means there’s more where that came from!
And there one has it! Just another day in Hollow Knight: Silksong navigating treacherous quests, rescuing brothers, and delivering precious eggs—while contemplating the true meaning of adventure, one perilous platform at a time.
