Unleashing the Rhinogrund: The Quest for the Mighty Groncéros
Ah, the thrilling world of Hollow Knight: Silksong! Full of amazing creatures, mysterious landscapes, and oh-so-charming high stakes. Somewhere lurking behind peculiar doors and poky spikes are the Rhinogrunds—or as they are affectionately called, the Groncéros—massive armored foes whose secrets are as deep as the darkest caverns. These intimidating beasts choose to make their grand entrances just at the most inconvenient moments, and guess what? They vanish into thin air if players dare to wander through the doors they just charged at. So, how does one locate and defeat these real-life tanks to fill the Hunter’s Journal? Grab a snack; it’s going to be a bumpy ride!
Where, Oh Where, to Find Those Groncéros?
Rhinogrunds aren’t just friendly neighborhood giants; they can unleash a flurry of chaos with their sharp horns. Their attack repertoire includes the classic “charge straight at you” move, a delightful “throw debris everywhere” tactic, and the surprise leap that could leave even the most cautious player quaking in their boots. And talk about tough! Their natural armor acts like a ‘no entry’ sign for pogo attacks and other tricks players have picked up along the way.
But don’t fret; the existence of these giants is important for the overall progression in Silksong. Tracking them is like a treasure hunt, minus the actual treasure (or is there?).
- The first Groncéros can be found in the Undergoof region, located to the east of the Pilgrim’s Rest. But beware: if your hero Hornet decides to open the door and bolted without fighting, the creature just might waltz back later, crashing the door and finding refuge with Mort—the most fabulous shopkeeper in Pilgrim’s Rest.
- Should the valiant player not succeed in the fierce encounter, the Rhinogrund shifts to Act 3, finding a cozy little tunnel connecting the Deep Docks and the Undergoof. Lucky little thing, isn’t it?
- A second specimen makes its grand debut in Act 2 at Memorium, within the Citadel. Spoiler alert: it’s just as charming!
Pro tip: Defeated Rhinogrunds don’t play hide-and-seek. Once they are taken down—poof! They won’t respawn, making this battle crucial for completing the Hunter’s Journal. Take a moment to embrace that fun twist!
Unlocking the Door to the Pilgrim’s Rest
Behind that forbidding metal door of Pilgrim’s Rest hides one of the elusive Groncéros. But remember, this isn’t a cakewalk. Accessing their lair demands not just guts, but precision and a few well-practiced skills: dash, glide, and wall jump—because why not sprinkle in some acrobatics for good measure?
- Exit the main hall of the Pilgrim’s Rest to the left and descend into an exciting vertical chamber. Hold on tight!
- Take a little detour to the right and pop into the chamber with a lovely bench and the Bell Beast. It’s a true oasis.
- Underneath the petite platform on the right lies a hidden path; this is the secret entrance to the door mechanism’s course. It’s like treasure hunting but with fewer treasures, and more spikes.
This fun adventure will require some air currents with Hornet’s cape, bouncing on red fruits like a pogo stick, and dodging spikes that look deadly and sinister. Seems easy in theory, doesn’t it? Just remember, a few deaths are pretty much guaranteed. Game on!
Upon reaching the end of this exhilarating course, heading left brings Hornet face-to-face with the Groncéros. Just behind this beefy fellow is a lever that needs activating. Just poke it with the needle—no fancy tech here! And be warned: if the player triggers the mechanism and is subsequently crushed by the creature, the Rhinogrund will vanish into thin air like a magic trick—taking with it both loot and entries. Talk about a double whammy!
Once defeated, the Groncéros is generous enough to drop a Beast Fragment worth a whopping 140 pearls. That should cushion the player’s pocket a bit, wouldn’t you say? Finders keepers!
