Nintendo shares new insights on Samus’s Metroid Prime 4 motorcycle.

Exciting New Features in Metroid Prime 4

The anticipation surrounding Metroid Prime 4 continues to rise as additional information has surfaced regarding a unique motorbike feature. Players will have the opportunity to utilize this vehicle, known as Vi-O-La, in designated areas throughout the game.

Unveiled in a recently aired Nintendo Direct trailer, Vi-O-La will serve as a dynamic mode of transportation for Samus, enabling her to perform various stunts and engage in combat using projectile attacks.

How the Vi-O-La Works

According to an update on Nintendo’s Japanese website, players can summon Vi-O-La in specific locations. Once dismounted, players can switch back to Samus’s perspective, continuing their exploration seamlessly.

Vi-O-La facilitates swift traversal across the expansive landscape of the alien planet Byrus, allowing players to engage in special actions, including combat against foes and the destruction of ore deposits scattered throughout the environment.

Special Abilities and Combat Mechanics

While riding Vi-O-La, Samus can employ various combat techniques. The boost move grants her a temporary surge in speed, capable of knocking back adversaries and breaking through ore obstacles. Additionally, the power slide maneuver can clear a path by pushing away numerous enemies and objects.

The vehicle’s projectile feature fires energy blasts that can lock onto as many as five enemies simultaneously. Remarkably, these projectiles return to Samus akin to a boomerang after hitting their targets.

Release Information

Set to launch on December 4, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is maintaining Nintendo’s schedule for a 2025 release. Further enriching the experience, an amiibo featuring Samus, alongside one of her riding Vi-O-La, will be available starting November 6, followed by an amiibo of Sylux coinciding with the game’s release.
