Explore our complete guide to uncover a new Easter egg related to the Lord of the Rings universe. This one grants access to a unique weapon, the Burning Chomper: discover how to obtain it and its effects in the video below.
If you want to fully enjoy everything that Borderlands 3 offers, you’ll surely want to investigate its Easter eggs. In this guide, we’ll show you how to find the unique Burning Chomper weapon, which features a delightful nod to the Lord of the Rings franchise. While it’s not a legendary weapon, it definitely packs a punch. This Easter egg will also take you to a location that closely resembles a setting from the first film of the series, where you’ll encounter a not-so-epic boss. Let’s dive in!
How to Obtain the Burning Chomper
Before you can embark on this quest, you’ll need to have progressed sufficiently in the game. This Easter egg can be found on Pandora, specifically in the “Konrad’s Hold” area. You’ll enter this zone during the main quest titled “Angels and Speed Demons”. Once you’re in the right area, head over to the location marked on our map with a purple beacon. There, you should see an available side quest icon. Start this quest called “A Demon in the Dark”.
Follow the instructions given by Wren, the friendly robot who assigned you this quest. Proceed through the objectives until you reach a strange chamber. Here, your first task is to free a robot trapped in excrement. Afterward, you’ll need to unlock some Eridian runes.
To achieve this, it’s quite simple: shoot one of the various runes on the walls. Your shot must pass through three rings present in the room to unlock one of the runes on the door. You’ll need to do this three times; it’s all about geometry—think it through and you’ll nail it.
Continue your quest until you reach the area shown in the image above on the left. You’ll notice a clear reference to LOTR, particularly a recreation of the Mines of Moria with Balin’s tomb. Aside from this enjoyable nod, there’s nothing of substance here; just keep moving through the quest until the next stage.
At this point, you’ll face off against a boss named “Lagramar,” who is a blend of references to the Balrog from LOTR and Aggramar, a raid boss from WoW: Legion. Defeat the boss, complete your quest, and Wren will reward you with the Burning Chomper. You will now have access to this location!
