When it comes to looter shooters, the search for legendary weapons is essential. Borderlands 3 is packed with these gems, and in this guide, we’ll delve into how to acquire the Hive, an incredibly powerful rocket launcher that unleashes nests of acid wasps, along with its unique effects.
After a series of galactic escapades in Borderlands 3, we’ve acquired one of the most memorable and powerful weapons on our journey. Simply named Hive, this legendary weapon resembles a rocket launcher, but in action, it is more akin to a device that launches nests of furious and deadly wasps.
The nests it launches (hence the name) do not inflict direct damage; instead, they float in the air for about ten seconds, during which they unleash dozens of acid projectiles that home in on nearby enemies. Each projectile inflicts the damage listed on the weapon, making it an absolute slaughter. This weapon proves especially formidable against bosses, even the most mobile ones, as nearly all projectiles will focus on them. It also works wonders against heavily shielded opponents or those hiding behind cover. We specifically wished we had this weapon during our fight with Killavolt.
Unfortunately, the Hive is quite demanding when it comes to ammunition, and there is a significant delay between firing and seeing damage dealt. Thus, it’s essential to use it preemptively and manage your ammo wisely.
How to Acquire the Hive
In our case, we obtained the Hive from a rare insectoid miniboss located in the Splinterlands of Pandora, known as Princess Tarentula II. Just after we had retrieved the golden vehicle for the Blood Drive quest and taken the exit ramp, we stumbled upon this massive, violent creature that was wreaking havoc on local vehicles. We were playing cooperatively at level 35, and unfortunately for our teammate, he did not receive this weapon.
