All the Endings in Hollow Knight Silksong: How to Snag the True Ending!

Hollow Knight Silksong, just like that vintage antique shop that also sells weirdly-shaped potato peelers, carries a bounty of endings—some more pleasant than others. Battling through this sprawling, shadowy adventure, it’s vital to avoid that “Oops, missed the good ending” moment that leaves any player wallowing in despair. Luckily, aside from one pesky trophy, every ending is within reach, as long as progress is made. So, what’s the plan? Game face on!

First Ending: The Weaver Queen

The inaugural ending of Silksong is about as uplifting as a trip to the dentist. To unlock it, gather three musical segments like a squirrel hoarding nuts for winter, and use them to access the elevator. Next up? A duel with Lace followed by a showdown with the Mother Superior Silk at the summit of the Cradle. Spoiler alert: Hornet jumps onto the Mother Silk, starts weaving like it’s an arts and crafts fair, and steals her powers. Congratulations! Hornet takes the throne and becomes the brand-new ruler of Pharloom. However, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. Various dialogues hint that she might be a tad too attached to her new occupation, falling into the classic tale of “absolute power corrupts absolutely.” So, essentially, a tyrant is replaced by another. Hooray for progress!

Here’s a little video to enjoy, featuring the epic battle, concluding cinematic, and the credits—because nothing says “mission accomplished” quite like a rolling list of names.

Trophy: Tormented Child

Now, this isn’t a bonus ending, but let’s chat about this delightful trophy. To acquire the Tormented Child trophy, one must take on the Mother Superior Silk under the dread influence of the Parasite’s Curse. What does that make for? An even trickier battle, since healing or using any tools is a total no-go. It’s a true miracle if this doesn’t cause a tantrum. This trophy isn’t just a stroll in a park; it’s one of the select few that can be missed outside of the Steel Soul mode fiasco. Once the parasite bites the dust or you waltz into Act 3, forget those trophy dreams!

Second Ending: Soul Snatcher

To unlock this gem of an ending, it’s necessary to first defeat Mother Superior Silk in a not-so-gentle manner. After that triumph, reload your save—because who doesn’t like a good rewind button? Ensure you’ve satisfied all the wishes of Clochelle and Chantsoir and have assisted the Fleas in forming Fleatopia in the Putrid Passages. Clochelle’s house also needs to be on the map, or else! If all is well, Chantsoir’s Superintendent will propose the Wish: Silk and Soul, allowing you to craft a trap for the Mother Superior Silk. Hornet, being the smart cookie she is, recognizes the downside of replacing the Mother Silk and opts instead for a cozy little trap in the void. Sounds cozy, doesn’t it?

After setting the trap, one must engage in combat once more with the Mother Superior Silk. Instead of “Weaving” this time, it’s time to pull out the musical chops and play a lovely tune, activating the trap like it’s a surprise party. Spoiler: it turns out to be a disaster, as Lace finds herself trapped in the void alongside Mother Silk, and the darkness goes on a rampage, corrupting dear Pharloom. However, this isn’t a conventional ending; it’s merely a segue into Act 3. Guess that menu screen will need another revamp!

True Ending of Hollow Knight Silksong: Sister of the Abyss

Finally stepping into Act 3, Hornet must navigate some treacherous waters—literally. It’s diving into the Abyss time, exploring past memories of mighty beings (lots of introspection, folks). The ultimate goal? Securing the legendary flower to shield against the void. Yes, it’s as dreamy as it sounds. Hornet takes a deep plunge into the ocean of nothingness to reach the cocoon of Mother Superior Silk and her dark doppelgänger, Lace!

After a grand, arduous battle with this overpowered version of Lace, Hornet manages to rescue her true self while sending Mother Silk packing. The final scene offers a naughty nod to the “best” ending of the original Hollow Knight, where the Knight transforms into a hefty, void creature to defeat Radiance. Our dear Knight still has a spark of memory left, helping Hornet in the final moments. The conclusion is more open-ended than a soap opera cliffhanger, but the assumption is that Pharloom has emerged victorious. Meanwhile, Lace has also dodged a bullet. Fantastic!

Ending: Filaments of Time

Now, this isn’t really a full-blown ending, but rather an extra scene following the grand finale. It springs into action if the wish “Path of Ages” is fulfilled after taking down the dark Lace. Now, whether to interpret this as a cheeky joke from Team Cherry or a teaser for upcoming adventures is up to the players. Could there be more on the horizon? Who knows?
