Discover our comprehensive guide revealing all the Typhon recordings planet by planet, unlocking precious chests along the way with detailed instructions.
Typhon may not be one of our crew members, but he plays a crucial role in this guide. In Borderlands 3, this intriguing character has left behind recordings and hidden caches filled with generally excellent loot, including legendary weapons, across each game zone. Follow this guide to find out all the locations for this crew challenge and gain access to every Typhon cache you’ve likely come across, though it may have displayed as “Blocked” before.
The Typhon Recordings
Within all the key areas of the game (excluding minor sections like boss arenas or the tutorial), you’ll find three Typhon recordings. Our dear Typhon has left Echo recordings as evidence of his journey. While he won’t share anything overly profound, listening to all three recordings in a specific area unlocks the Typhon cache and reveals its location on your map. Check out each location, planet by planet, with the guides provided below.
Typhon Recordings: Complete Guide
Typhon Caches
There is precisely one cache per zone, mirroring the number of recordings. To unlock it, simply listen to the three Typhon recordings located in that area. After doing this, the cache will be visible on your map, appearing in green with the same icon as shown below. When you arrive at the cache, go ahead and unlock it to enjoy the rewards. The Typhon caches contain loot of various rarities, including legendary items for the lucky ones. You can either open them right away for a boost in combat effectiveness or wait until you reach level 50 and activate Chaos Mode 3 to maximize your loot opportunities. Keep in mind that each Typhon cache can only be opened once per character, regardless of difficulty level.
Here’s how a typical Typhon cache appears on the map and in-game:
